My Roses

I have no idea what kind of roses I have in my rosebed. We moved into my
mother-in-law's house, and she had 3 rose bushes that she brought from the
farm when they moved to town. One of them is about 5 feet tall, and is just
tall and spindly. It makes a very pretty red rose. The base of it is very
thick and has heavy bark on it. I think that in fall I should cut it back,
possibly very drastically, but I don't know for sure.

There is another one that only has 3 or 4 long branches. It makes a pinkish
red bloom that looks like an "old" rose. It only has about 6 or 8 petals,
and is open in the center. Again, should I cut it way back in the fall?

The third is like the others, tall and spindly, it makes a very pretty peach
colored rose.

As you can tell, I know nothing about roses, but would really like to turn
them into something beautiful.

I have added 4 miniature rose bushes, and 2 regular bushes. They went into
shock when I planted them, but seem to be coming back out now. The
miniature roses lost all of their leaves, and I pruned them like the books
said to do. They are putting out new leaves, and look like they will be ok.

I appreciate the emails, letting me know what others are doing with their
roses.

I will take any suggestions that anyone has for my bed.

My husband put mulch on them for me today. We are in Texas, and the heat
and lack of rain have been hard on everything. We do water the roses
everyday, so hopefully the lack of rain won't have too much affect on them.
