I have grown Reine de Violette for about 5
years. Truly beautiful, although not the "crayon
purple" color they portray in the catalogue.
Actually a much more beautiful dusky purple,
nicely fragrant. I live in Oregon, so it tends to
grow very tall, so I nip it back every year to
keep it about 6', thin out old or crossing stems.
Love its unthorniness. Very consistent
rebloom.
I will say, though, I am a huge fan of own root
roses, which Wayside does not carry. But this
particular rose I do have on grafted stock and it
has done fine. And been moved once with no
adverse affects.
