Yes, we here at the Commemorative Rose Garden in Twin Falls, Idaho, use
Epsom salts because they promote basal breaks and fatter, beefier canes.
Try it in early season. You wouldn't want that kind of growth late in
season, of course.
Also, watch it on fish fertilizer. Your dogs and cats really like the
stuff. A story came from an ARS dog lover who fertilized late one
evening with that and the all-purpose chemical stuff. it got late and
dark, so she didn't scratch it in, nor water it in properly -- too
tired. Next day, doggie decided the fishy-smelling stuff was a taste
treat. He died. cw, CR 6a.
