Carleen,
I think I have read your postings on the rose arbor. Just joined this list
because the other seemed so quiet. Must just be the season. I have grown a
few herbs for some years (dill, fennel, sage, thyme, oregano, basil, chives,
parsley, feverfew, chamomile, tarragon and mint), but all among my roses. I
like the mixutre of scents. We refer to those gardens as our Nose Gardens.
My daughter's friends and visitors love to rub their hands along the plants
and gather the smells. Use my herbs mainly for cooking. Not too familiar
with teas or medicine, but willing to learn.
Regarding my new rose garden. . .are you familiar with what are called
ground cover roses? Are they also called creeping roses? Also, on back edge
of my garden is a fairly large tree. The bottom of it is split in two,
looking like two trees growing close togther. Over the years, the neighbors
have pruned its branches so severly that the first ones are 7 feet from the
bottom. Would love to grow roses along and up this tree. Any suggestions?
BTW, the shade from this tree is quite minimal.
