new biological antidote for powdery mildew

Boy, it sure is quiet on the rose list. Does anyone have any experience with
the mini called 'Sun Sprinkles'? I just started with a few mini's last year
and found them to be extremely floriferous. We'll see how they over-winter in
a cold but, thankfully, snow-covered Chicago.

Just read something interesting in the Winter 2001 Brooklyn Botanic Garden
newsletter:

"AQ10 biofungicide contains spores of the fungus Ampelomyces quisqualis which
parasatizes various strains of powdery mildew.The product is labeled for use
on vegetables crops; pome and stone fruit trees/ other fruit and vine crops;
herbs and spices; and ornamentals. AQ10 has been certified for use in organic
production by several certifying agencies. To learn more, contact Ecogen
Inc., 2000 W. Cabot Road, #1j7j0, Langhorne, PA 19047; phone (215)757-1590;
www.ecogeninc.com"

Since encountering powdery mildew for the first time last year on 3 'All That
Jazz' shrub roses (in 3 different beds) and having them all defoliate no less
than 2x, I'm mot interested in finding a safe alternative to dangerous
pesticides.

Does anyone know of this product or have more info on it?

What roses does anyone plan on trying for the first time this year where they
feel it's chancy for success? Does anyone have any experience with
All-American Rose winners being quite disease prone in their area?

Bye,

Joanie Anderson
