Re: new to the list

Have a happy new year Randy. What are your breeding goals.
Mine are roses that will be no spray no prune beautifully flowered
garden plants as easy to care for as FORSYTHIAS, mostly sold as
in/outdoor flowering pot-plants. That is what I began breeding for sice
1997 on the french riviera with a rather mild climate.

Temperature needed for indoor rooted soft wood cuttings is rather high.
>From 25°C to 30°C with saturated humidity and light. Rooting may take up
to two months. Leaving some top leaf is better. Size of cutting may be
as small as a single internode, (as miniature rose growers do) to a 6
inch stem.

Much easier are hard wood cuttings ground rooted outside. Many cutting
grown rootstoks such as Dr Huey, Fortuniana or multiflora are multiplied
that way. At leaf fall (you may also succed with last frosts) take 6 to
8 inch pencil thick or more curent year HT mature wood. Put them
straight in ground with an eye or two left above. Weed and water when
necessary.
