I have just gotten two Rose cultivars which I have planted in a good rose mix
soil in a 14" and a 16" pot. One is a bush rose called F.J. Grootendorst
(which
I have been told is a Rugosa hybrid) and the other is a floribunda called
Iceberg. I live in Houston, Tx., which is in USDA zone 9a Upper Texas Gulf
Coast. I would like to keep my plants including the roses organic and need
to find
something organic to eliminate or prevent the pathogens which will likely
attack
these plants in the hot, wet climate in Houston. Any suggestions would be
greatly
appreciated.
One suggestion I received was to let these live their potentially short lives
and go gets some antique roses to replace them.
I am also interested in growing other roses in pots and my inclination is
to mini's
and micro's. What suggestions do all you Rosarians have for small
cultivars which
will do well in containers in Hot, Humid, Houston TX.
