Well, if any of you felt like wasting 60 bucks on the American Rose
Society's "Who's Who", like I did, you'll find that I listed this as my
favorite Rose. Well, it is. I currently raise about 120 Roses, and have
raised about 400 (?) different varieties in my life. I doubt that it
would've been my favorite 20 years ago (had I even been aware of it)
because back then I thought the only Roses worth growing were Hybrid Teas.
Well, I don't own a single HT at this point, and it's only been in the last
5 years that I've really come to appreciate the singles and semi-doubles.
Anyway, I've had 'Celsiana' for 3 years now, and she's one I totally obsess
on when she's blooming. David Austin lists this as one of his favorites,
and it's how I became aware of it. After getting a good collection of
Austins and OGRs, I concentrated on the favorite Roses of hybridizers,
especially Austin (for obvious reasons). The last couple of years I've
been buying more species Roses than anything else, but it's time to get a
few more OGRs.
