While we're on the subject of suckers, I have a couple of questions.
1. My 'Therese Bugnet' is throwing up suckers all over the place this
year. When is the best time to dig those up and give away? Any tips on
how far down to dig or what the recipient can do to get the rose to settle
in? I'm in zone 6a.
2. Has anyone allowed the extraneous suckers that come up below the graft
union on a hybrid tea to grow? What did you end up with? I've been
curious to do this, but was afraid I'd end up with a monstrous-looking bush
with ugly blooms. I've had suckers come up with the hybrid teas have died
off. Frankly, I was very tempted to let the new plant grow...
What kind of rose bush are the teas usually grafted onto? Anything worth
keeping?
