[Rose-list] Finally---Blooming like mad!

Morning List folks,

How are your roses looking this fine day?

Finally some nice weather so the roses can bloom, and more open just this
morning. How wonderful. Some I'm seeing in bloom for the first time.

'GREAT MAIDEN'S BLUSH' is so lovely in pale pink with squirls. The blooms
are rounded on the top and flat on the bottom like a scone. It had nearly
taupe looking buds. I can forgive her the time she took to establish.
'BELLE ISIS' is a cute little dainty pale pink with a green eye. 'COMTE DE
CHAMBORD' is very fragrant, but not as pretty as I recalled. Could be it's
first bloom. Funny as it is the roses that started me on my rose madness
some 8 years ago.

More first time bloomers are 'DUCHESSE DE MONTEBELLO' wow, I love it.
Soft light pink with a hint of peach with a sunken button eye set in a deep
small cup. I will have to move her closer to the house-view. White
'BOTZARIS' and 'ALBA MAXIMA' are much prettier flowers than in the
catalog, as is with nice pink 'ISPAHAN' that looks very similar to my found
rose "Pink Yankton".

'MME.WILLIAM PAUL' is completely disease free and lovely, filling in right
to where I pruned it. Looks like you could almost shape this guy and have
it stay. Nice moss with dark pink simple double flowers that are rather
fluffy and good size.

I became interested in striped roses last year. (Hated them 5 years
ago..hee,hee.) So I bought 'YORK & LANCASTER', 'ROSA MUNDI' and
'STRIPED MOSS'. 'STRIPED MOSS' is the first to bloom, very wonderful
candy striped bloom that is half open this morning, just a tiny little thing
with delightful moss. Thus far I'm very happy with it.

My old roses, 'AUTUMN DAMASK BIFERA' and found rose
"PINK YANKTON" had some buds that were too far gone to open,
so I had to cut them off. Good thing they have about 8 more buds
for each 1 I had to remove.

Half of my roses are once blooming and half are repeat or continuous
blooming. As of this moment I have about a dozen roses at near peak.
Most of them are once blooming roses. Of the other 100 roses, half
are just starting to bloom good and the other half are still holding buds.

Yipppeee...

Sincerely,
~Carleen~
