Re: Roses in Shade

What does it mean when a rose tolerates shade?  My mother will making a 
new shade garden along her old driveway, under some trees-both pine and 
hardwood.  We were wondering if any shade tolerant roses might do OK 
here.  She also has some areas which will get a few hours of sun and 
dappled sun.  Are these areas better?
