Thanks for the info. You have definitely described our season so far.
But if I leave the buds on the plant, they seem okay. It is only after
I cut them that they seem to go prematurely. I cut a bud that is just
starting to open and put it in water. In a matter of days, the bud has
gone limp and never opens. In the past, buds taken from the same plants
would open completely before wilting weeks later. It could still be a
problem with the stems caused by the weather though. I seem to remember
the same problem, though not quite as bad, last year. And it was a
warm/wet winter also.
