That was a rough year for ya, Elle. Retire early then?
Blanc de Coubert (1892) is a wonderful rugosa, semi-double, crisp
white, very lovely fragrance. It will set some nice hips too. Don't
prune it unless you have to keep it off ya.
Yes, 100 years old is plenty old in a rose for me. Technically an
old rose is one created before 1867. Many of the Hybrid Musks and
climbers are not "old" roses either, but they are not as modern as
the English roses. Long as they are beautiful and not prone to lots
of disease, I happy.
Wow... 6 ferrets, now that's a house full. Do they stay inside all
the time?
Finally warm this afternoon, but I hear that won't last either...
yes, I hope we don't end up with nasty balls for blooms this year on
the once bloomers. My roses are on the south side full sun, so full
of buds and I can see just a pinch of pink on Autumn Damask and a few
others. With this cold wet spring wonder if I will ever get to put
out my tomatoes.
I will be calling HOGR's so that we are sure to see roses in
bloom...especially the once blooming old ones, I always seem to miss
them. I'm sure to make a few other trips in the year also.
Sincerely,
~Carleen~
