Just thought of another way to use your cedar chips now...do you have any
trees or
shrubs that could use a mulch? If you use the chips around these now, add
some
grass clippings throughout the summer (they turn brown almost immediately)
and it should compensate for the nitrogen loss this year, which shouldn't be
enormous anyway. Then go to your source for aged manure and top-dress the
roses with the manure, which I've been doing for 2 years now and it looks
great and feeds the roses slowly and well.
