Val:
The roses are shrubs that are new to the US and have an interesting history:
'Baby
Love' comes to us from an amateur hybridizer in England who crossed a HT with
a
species rose to produce the Royal National Rose Society's Gold Medal winner.
It
has "abundant clusters of sweetly fragrant 2 inch bright yellow blooms from
June to frost". The foliage is shiny and the rose is free of disease. Along
with these roses in
the bed are buddleia 'Nanho Blue', a compact and shorter variety and with a
heart
stealing shade of medium blue with orange eyes and pyracantha 'Walker's
Pride' for
height and density and texture. Additionally, nearby, are hemerocallis
'Stella D'oro'
and a white garden fence, however, the rose bed is backed by a grey, aged
stockage
fence. The salvia Carleen mentioned souns pretty good, especially the darker
variety
as contrast to the buddleia. I'm not overly fond of orange but a dark pink
might be
nice used sparingly.
Thanks for all the help - I'd try to draw it but my computer sketches always
look like I held the mouse with my toes! Joanie
