Why buy plants when you can grow them yourself.....?

I am new to the list and have not grown roses in the cold climate we have
in inland WA state.

Our Master Gardener's group had the gardener who tended the roses in
Manitou Park in Spokane, WA give us a seminar on all phases of rose
growing. The seminar was open to the public and we took turns working at
the check in area so I missed most of the information about preparing roses
for winter.

Our ground is now well frozen but I have not cut back the roses yet. I
have some styrofoam caps for the roses and plenty of leaves to place around
the roses. I would appreciate any information regarding how I get from
unpruned bushes to bushes with mulch and caps for winter protection.

I forgot to mention that I have both miniature and regular sized roses.

Hopefully,
