Another thought.
There has been increasing interest in old hybrid teas, say those before
1925. You could pick out some of the key varieties that brought certain
characteristics to modern roses. eg. 'Soliel d'Or' as the origin of
orange and the Pernitiana strain. 'Chateau de Clos Voeget' and its
influence on reds. Radience and its sports. Many great old roses that
beat many moderns.
