Because I live just an half hour or so drive from the HOGR rose gardens
(envy me) I tend to buy from them, drop in when special things are in
bloom and generally spend too much of my retirement dollars on impulse.
I have devised a small garden area that gets good morning and early
afternoon sun, is nicely fertile and easy to care for. I nursery the
small roses there for a few years, till they are ready to be put in
place. OKOK this may give me 5 years from planting to full flush of
glorious rose, but I've been in this house over 25 years with no plans
to move so I take the long outlook.
Prior to developing my nursery garden, I planted the small roses in pots
for a couple of years and moved them around.
I am working on a new rose garden with (eventually) about 15 of the Jude
the Obscure roses in it. I buy a few every year. The nursery has a
huge planting of this absolutely gorgeous rose that I am determined to
get a picture of this year.
peace
elle in oregon-still getting plenty of roses for my vases.
