I didn't have problems with thrips this year, or at least not enough to do
any serious damage. I think I must have a good balance of predator/prey
insects. I did notice a LOT of spiders on the roses, especially those tiny
white ones that hang around the blossoms, so I wonder if they were eating
the thrips.
I DID have problems with grasshoppers this year -- they must've known I was
talking about them here on the list, because a week or so later, they
descended upon my roses with a vengance!

Yes, please do. As Keith mentioned, thrips are normally a real problem
down here, so who knows what next season will be like.
