Re: Starting cuttings (successfully ;} )


Go for it Jim!  I would have suggested that if I thought it was an
option.... That's my FAVORITE way to (re)start a rose.

With some roots it's much faster to establish, I've not lost one yet
doing it this way... Most of my "found" roses I've gotten this way... many
from across the US.  From Spring right into Fall.  I think I have about 10
roses this way.  Often with just 3-4 inches of "root" (could hardly call it
that, but cane that was below dirt.)   One such rose that I dug had so
little root, I just "stuck them" one at a time into a rose whole that was a
muddy "slury"... it worked VERY well.  I've never covered them or used
rootone on them either.  I would do so now.
