Hi Joanie,
Thanks for responding so quickly. I too live in the Chicago area. I have
always loved roses but in the past few years have been very unsuccesful in
keeping them alive. The last few years I've had to replant several of my
plants. I don't know if our winters here have been part of the problem?
Also, a couple of years ago, the crab trees in our yard developed scab and I
think this has had an effect on the roses as well. Each year they too
develop a fungus infection and by mid-July they begin to loose their leaves
and bloom less. As for the Japaneese Beatles, I too have also noticed this
problem increasing in frequency. I thought it was due to my other problems
of growing but now I wonder they are contributing to the poor health of my
plants.
