Hi there! Are all of you noticing that the blooms are longer stemmed and the colors are more intense now that the nights are a bit cooler? My roses have never been lovelier. I am preparing to dig and move them a few at a time to the new house. It is about a 2 hour drive from here and I plan to put them in the large storage boxes WalMart sells in the plastics department when I dig them. I will plant them when I get there and hopefully there will be enough soil around them that they will hardly know they have been moved. Our Master Gardener's group had a speaker a couple years ago who gave us wonderful information about cutting roses back in the fall and protecting them in winter and general culture all year long. There is a park in Spokane that has beautiful roses and is popular with visitors. He was the head caretaker/gardener there for many years. He had lists of roses and his evaluations of them and which he rated more suited to our area than others might be. We sold tickets for his presentation and had a good turnout.
