Yes, and the mother plant may die of old age without ever producing a
single variegated offset. i sometimes wonder if these variegates which do
not reproduce at all were chemically tinkered into existence, and under
normal conditions, naturally revert. I would say that some of the
variegates for which I have shelled out the highest dollar have done this.
as I do not grow ONLY Sansevieria, but also many other variegated monocots,
and in particular, monocots of the Lily group, i find this puzzling.
I am NOT repeat NOT accusing madalyn or Grigsbys of doing this! they have
to get their stock plants from somewhere. and she and I have had this
discussion over the failure of many variegates to perform in the
reproductive department.
