Re: [SANS] Seed Germination

Peter asks about commercial sources for sansevieria seeds.
The answer is pretty simple: there aren't any. I have
offered sansevieria seed via the CSSA Seed Depot occasionally.
All this seed is sent to me by donors, most by Ed Eby in
Hawaii. Sadly, this El Nino year produced a drought on Oahu
and Ed had very little bloom and seed-set. Also, he is, at 88,
not as nimble as he used to be, so the mice tend to beat him
to the seeds. (At least, he thinks it is mice that get them.)

As sansevieria plants do not, individually, produce great
numbers of seed, only those with many, many blooming plants
can supply seed in commercial quantities. There are few such
growers.
