Dear SANSEVIERIAS subscribers,
As I am new to this list, this is my "introduction" message. Although I
understand that this "advertisement" may be against the proper rules of
netiquette, I felt that many of you might be interested in the following
topic.
--------------------
A new e-mail community has been established for people interested in
Madagascar and all of it's strange and wonderful endemic plants. The
British
charity organization, Azafady (which means "please" in Malagasy), is
developing a sustainable-harvest seedbank for a wide variety of plants
from
southern Madagascar--such as palms, euphorbias, pachypodiums, aloes,
pandans, bamboos, flowering trees, sansevierias, etc. This project will
employ numerous Malagasy people and, in so doing, will present the local
people with an alternative to the traditional slash-and-burn treatment
of
forests in Madagascar.
Joining this e-mail community will allow you to be notified of available
seeds and to discuss Malagasy plants of interest to you. To join the
list,
simply go to the ONElist website <www.onelist.com>, register as a user,
and
then conduct a search for "madagascarseed". Upon joining the
madagascarseed
ONElist community, please send a message to the list indicating your
country
of origin and plant group(s) of interest.
Thank you all for your time, consideration, and understanding.
Kindest regards,
Jody Haynes
List Owner & Azafady/Montgomery Madagascar Seedbank Facilitator
