The other day i send an introduction to both You
on the "sansevieria list" and "Other
succulents".
Unfortunately I got it rejected from this list,
because the message was too long.
Well, for a month or so I have followed
the nice and cosy conversation, and I think most of You also are active on the
"Other succulent" list, and have read my message there.
Anyway,
here You have a litlle different, and now more shortly
introduction:
My name is Ove Christensen. My biggest interests is in Gasteria, Hoya and
most of all Sansevieria.
In Denmark only Sansevieria Trifasciata and
Hahnii types are common.
Of other species I have had the luck to find me: Cylindrica
patula (small shoots), Dawei (small shoot), Grandis (3 bigger shoots),
Grandicuspis (nice mature plant) , Hyacintioides (small with only two leaves),
Liberica (only a leaf cut), Suffruticosa (small shoots) and Metallica (now a big
and nice plant),
Three years ago, me and my daughter had a tour
in Brazil. In Salvador, at Praio Do Forte, I collected some broken trifasciata
leaves from the ground.
Today it's a very fine
plant, but different to what I know of Trifasciata types. First, each plant has
4-6 leaves. Older leaves doesn't darken but gets a light green color. The
longest leaves till now are only about 55 cm/22 inch'es long. The plant has only
green colours and no Yellow stribes like Laurentii.
Does anybody have a guess for what a Trifasciata type we
found there- ?
Another sansevieria I have and think is special is a Hahnii type. It
looks very much like a normal Hahni, but has much longer leaves than other
Hahnii's I know. Uptil 35 cm/14 inch.
Ove Christensen, Denmark
