Mr. Christensen,
The plant that you found in Brazil is Sansevieria guineensis, mostly called
Sansevieria longiflora. I have seen it growing all over in Rio de Janeiro.
It also grows all over in Florida. Our plant here (in Florida) is totally
sterile. I have never seen a single seed.
The fact that you confused it with Sansevieria trifasciata is the same fact
why this plant has never been commercialized. It looks to the untrained eye
(read: buyer in the store) like a regular trifasciata.
A jungle park here in Naples has that plant labelled Sansevieria
trifasciata!
As to the smaller one, it appears to me that it could be Sansevieria
trifasciata 'Futura Reversion'. May be somebody else would like to give
his-her opinion.
Cheers,
Juan
