i have one plant which has leaves which have upon then, lengthwise
"canoe-shaped" extensions, raised well off the surface and free at the
ends. such things are called "dragons" by the Japanese and occur as a
decorative feature on Rohea japonica. the rest of the plant is a twisted
piece of work, as if the long edge of each leaf grows at a different rate
of speed than its opposite. this is a trifasciata laurentii.
i have a mighty crested Dracaena Janet Craig. very flat woody fans, with
billions of tiny crowded leaves, the whole thing incredibly dwarfed. have
had it for about 15 years and it is still happy in a 4 inch pot. it puts
down stilt roots from the fans. Every now and again it puts up a normal
which is terminated with extreme prejudice and a knife!
hermine
