I just got home yesterday after attending the 4th Philippine Floriculture
Congress in a southern island and I would like to comment on this.
The problem mentioned by Tony Mace is not the difficulty of ftp-ing to his
cactus mall but rather the time delay of 24 hours in the displaying of
whatever we want to display on our webpages after we ftp to his site. The
process of ftp-ing should be straightforward, if my impression is correct
based on what I have read so far.
BTW, although I have not designed any webpages yet, I do have some
knowledge of html which I learned from self-study. And, similarly, though I
have not published any webpages yet, I have played around in modifying
webpages that I have downloaded from the internet. Based on these limited
experiences, I can say that if we are not too demanding, we can easily
adapt and modify existing webpages that we like and, after changing the
contents and with due permission, turn them into our very own webpages.
The main problem above all these will be managing the site, which means
that someone has to set the direction for it, get the contents that will
reflect this direction, and supervise those who will take care of the
technical aspects.
If there is no one on this list who has the technical background to take
care of the technical details, I am willing to volunteer. It may be the
case of the half-blind leading the blind, but I am confident that I can
learn as I go along. All I will need is someone who knows what needs to be
done and who has access to knowledgeable people and the influence to get
them to contribute contents.
I hope I can help.
