Shouldn't that be Sans.hyacinthoides 'San Remo'?

The problem with referring the cultivar 'San Remo' to Sansevieria
guineensis is that the latter name is invalid and has long been misapplied
to several different species.

Below is a reposting of an excerpt of the first part of a discussion on the
status of Sansevieria guineensis I originally posted in the forum on May 4,
1999. (The list of references was the second part.)

The correct name for the cultivar appears to be Sansevieria hyacinthoides
'San Remo'. Likewise, another popular cultivar would be properly named
Sans.hyacinthoides 'Manolin'.

Hi, I am back but haven't had a chance to read the 120 plus messages that I
recceived during my 3 week absence.
The parent of Sansevieria guineensis 'San Remo' is, as I indicate, S.
guineesis. the plant was brought from San Remo, Italy, by the late Tony
Falco.
Grigsby, or the woman who took care of the plants at that time, changed the
name to smoked sausage. The latter name should not be used as there was no
reson to change the name at whim (other than for commercial purposes).
cheers,
Juan

The name Sansevieria guineensis has been used different species in
different regions by different authors. The original combination by
Willdenow is now accepted as being synonymous with Sansevieria

Obermeyer (1992), Van Jaarsveld (1994)) None of the uses of the name
Sansevieria guineensis are valid today.
