Hi Tom-
Thanks for the introduction. I travel a lot, so maybe we can cross paths
sometime. I live in Memphis now, but am a native Chicagoan, and I do get
back up to the midwest once in a while.
I too love to observe the morphological siimilarities (and differences) among
different groups of plants. It is amazing how natural selection has produced
some of the same kinds of survival mechanisms and adaptations in vastly
divergent species.
I have never heard of FKH 588 (perhaps someone else has?), but I do have a
plant labeled "Gl & F (for Glass and Foster) 71-588" which could be an old
Grigsby number (pure speculation). I think this plant came to me by way of
the Huntington Botanical Garden years ago, and perhaps from Lillian True's
collection. Maybe it's the same as yours. To me, it looks a lot like S.
stuckyi.
Does anyone else know anything about this plant?
