Hi, Anita, aka. New Kid on the Block,
I bet you thought you were the only gesneriphile and sansevieria lover.
Well, guess again! Isn't it true that there are just too many interesting
plants of all kinds to possibly specialize in just one kind. I joined the
Sansevieria list about a month ago and am enjoying it very much. I have
quite of few sansevierias but I don't know baileyi. Your "moon" plant is
may be called "moonshine" or "silver moon". Both names are for the same
variety although I bought mine in the late 70's as 'silver moon' but
subsequently have seen it listed only as 'moonshine'. Its a great variety
except that as the growths age they darken to a drab gray green. To make a
pot really spectacular I like to get three to five fresh growths, remove the
dark old growths and then pot them up together. They look great for a year
or so until they darken and then its time to start a fresh pot of new
growths.
See you on gesneriphiles,
Jon Dixon
Woodside, California, where its raining lightly after some spectacular sunny
days. A nice respite after the torrential El Nin~o rains of last month.
