After that monstrous and amazing discussion of ancient labels from Mobile
gardens, i thought, this is a good place to begin sorting out such cultivar
names. For a long time, sansevieris have been cultivated as a private or
isolated hobby, with not all that much of a public following, more like a
cult plant. but so far, i think it is amazing to find another person In
california , not that far away, who has the same plant with the same
plastic label fragments. this ought to be easier than deciphering the dead
Sea Scrolls!
I have watched a plant travel from one hand to another, be renamed and then
distributed by two people under 2 separate names. Oh, not limited to
Sansevierias, the same thing goes on in the Bamboo world. Sometimes it is
accidental, and occasionally it is deliberate, but let's use our resources,
which is US, and sort this out. Norma and John the 2 'Slimmettes' you sent
are 2 different plants! or maybe they get that way after being grown to a
certain size...don't know yet.
Does anybody remember a man named juan Cortazar gonzales? in mid-late 80s i
got some very nice collected sansevierias from him.
Anyone else ever get some sansevierias from Loyce Andrews?
I have on my deerstalker cap and want to do some keen detective work.
