Re: [SANS] Sans. 'Leopard Bat'

Thank you for the valuable information Juan and Hermine,

This is fantastic that we are finally clearing up one of the long standing
Sansevieria mysteries. As Norma said, the history of these plants is as
fascinating as the plants themselves. Has anyone flowered 'Leopard Bat' and
what does the inflorescence look like?

Here is the documentation I have so far.

Sansevieria 'Leopard Bat'
syn. Sansevieria stuckyi sensu Grigsby (GC 79058) 1983 WISH BOOK plate on
p.15, 1984 WISH BOOK plate on p.19, H.Stover, The Sansevieria Book, p. 23
(bottom photo) (1983)
       Sansevieria thyrsiflora sensu M. Singer

Juan, how does this hybrid compare with the natural hybrids between
Sansevieria fischeri X intermedia you found 4 Km. from the Mwatate-Maktau
road just past Mwatate, Kenya? (Sansevieria Journal 3 (1): 11-15, figs. 3-4
(1994)). They seem to be similar to 'Leopard Bat'. Could John Lavranos be
the one who introduced the hybrid into cultivation?

Norma, does the Huntington have any documentation on this plant? Since
Grigsby got it in 1979, could it be the same as one of the 78xxx HBG
numbers?

Who else out there has the plant under any of these or any other names?

Cereusly Steve
