I have grown many Sans plants from leaves (mostly just to experiment),
specifically various S.t. varieties and S. cylindrica. Although I have
not kept detailed records, I believe that these took not more than one
month to show shoots above soil level.
Now, I planted leaves of the following at the end of August (more than
two months ago) - 'Baseball Bat', fisheri/singularis, kirkii var pulchra
and S.t. forescate all obtained from kind friends in Nevis and
Barbados. All of these look plump and healthy but there is no sign of a
shoot on any so far. What experience do others have on this and should
I just wait or try some kind of encouragement. Advise will be
appreciated.
Regards from Trinidad,
George de Verteuil
