Dracaena X Sansevieria?

Dear George,

It is not possible to hybridize Sansevieria and Dracaena (including
Pleomele). There have been no recorded cases of successful intergeneric
crosses. I have already searched the literature for any reported cases and
there are absolutely none.

In many places in Africa, the ranges of the two genera overlap so the
opportunities for intergeneric hybridization have been many. There are no
species that appear to be intermediate between the two genera either. For
one thing, the pollen structure of the two genera is very different.

Sure Sansevieria arborescens Cornu has a shrubby growth habit like many
Dracaenas but its flower and fruit structure are typical for Sansevieria.
Sans.arborescens will hybridize with Sans.robusta but not Dracaena.

If the opportunity present itself, you may still want to try but you should
not be too optimistic of the outcome.

Thanks, Steve. We have heard of intergeneric hybrids, and, since they are
in the same family, would it be possible to hybridize Sans with Dracs?
