Dear Supannee and Tom,
Sansevieria eilensis Chahinian is the correct name for the plant previously
described as Sansevieria sp. 'Eyl' by Lavranos (1994). The type collection
for Sansevieria eilensis is Lavranos 10179.
It is offered under the invalid name of "Sansevieria eiliana n.n. Lavranos
10178" by Grigsby Cactus Gardens. Not surprisingly, it is one of the most
expensive Sansevierias they offer. I believe they meant to say it has 3 to
4 leaves not 34.
Here is the link to Grigsby's.

Ironically, the plant in the photo in Euphorbia Journal 9: 116 (1994) as
"Sansevieria sp. Eil, Somalia Nov. 25, 1986" is not this species but is
actually Sansevieria rorida (Lanza) N.E. Brown.

eilensis the same as sp. eyl? My guess is yes but I've heard stories of
little plants in this group that seem different than each other. From
looking at Steve's species list in the archives, I would say that these
two are one and the same. Steve also wrote up a nice exerpt on July 14th
1999 for this plant and it can be found in the archives.
Have a good one,
Tom
