Hello Annee,
Here are my best guesses concerning the identities of your mystery
sansevierias:
#1 is the real stuckyi
#2 is not stuckyi. hard to tell what it really is from such a young plant.
With long, thin, rough, virtually unmarked leaves, could it be one of the
many forms of suffruticosa? If it produces aerial stolons, that would be the
answer. Another possibility is S. rhodesiana, which may actually be just a
slender variety of desertii.
#3 is indeed fischeri
#4 is probably aethiopica. This plant is apparently quite variable. For
example, S. scabrifolia is now considered to be just another clone of
aethiopica. It seems to match with your verbal description
#5 could be S. grandis, especially if the leaves are essentially smooth, very
indistinctly marked, emerge with a slight waxy bloom on their surface, and
sometimes become rather concave or cupped. Otherwise, it might be
thyrsiflora (hyacinthoides?) if the leaves are more colorful and slightly
more rough in texture. Both produce heavy rhizomes.
Steve will probably be able to enlighten you further.
Good luck! And, I really enjoyed your website. It seems that there are many
animal lovers among us. I myself am the father of an overly indulged Golden
Retriever!
