A good summer garden theme is a three sisters garden (corn, squash and beans
-- Native American theme). Other summer "food theme" gardens are "Pizza" or
"Salsa" gardens, "Fruit Salad" (Melons of various sorts), "Peter Piper Picked
a Pepper" Pepper garden, or a Gourd patch (tie into Gourd Art, Gourds as
cooking/ drinking vessels); the Gourds or Beans can be trained on teepees or
half teepees to create shelter/ shade.
For elementary aged children, 4-H has excellent garden based education
curriculum materials.
