Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html
Nickie- Actually, you are talking to Necia (pronounced Knee-sha), I am
Jeff's other (better?) half! We live in Henrietta, 20 miles southeast of
Wichita Falls. We moved to a new house in December, and I have been
bugging Jeff to help get the garden started ever since. He was getting very
frustrated with me for a while! I could certainly sympathize with everyone
else planning away with seed catalogs and calendars. We finally have 5- 4'
x 4' beds. However, they are not raised. I have transplanted my broccoli
and cauliflower, planted onions and potatoes. I planted corn seed last
weekend but have not seen them come up yet. I forgot to look on the
package and find out how long it is from planting to germination. At this
point, I can't tell the difference between the small weeds and actual
seedlings so I am just letting all stay in the garden for a while! We
planted our potatoes in big barrels and plan on adding more dirt when the
hulms reach 7-8" high. My sister, who also gardens, read somewhere that you
can do this over and over and harvest tons of potatoes. I guess we will
see!
Your garden and homestead sound great! Good luck,
Necia
