Re: Spanish Peanuts, need sfg spacing

I grew peanuts last summer (Tennessee Red, I think).  I'd recommend them at 
1/sq. ft.  I planted them a bit closer, because I didn't know how they grow, 
and I think that cut down on my harvest substantially. I haven't had this 
confirmed by official research, but I'll tell you how they seemed to grown 
based on my observation.  They're vines that send roots down from the 
flowers.  They sprawl quite a bit, and they have to be able to root in the 
dirt to produce peanuts.  I only got peanuts from the main root, and the 
occasional subsidiary root that managed to find dirt.  The flowers are 
really pretty, by the way, and the plants are largely maintenance free.

If anyone knows more about how they grow, I'd appreciate the info.  I have 
plenty of seed peanuts left, and I haven't decided whether I'll try them 
again this year.
