Re: Cold feet in the Square foot garden

Square Foot Gardening List - http://www.flinet.com/~gallus/sqft.html

Thanks so much Dawn- Because the idea of moving that compost pile was
daunting! And good to hear about the trellises. I think I just must have
gotten confused about that. Was supposed to go camping with my BF this
weekend for his birthday and didn't really want to- wanted to PLANT- now the
weather has turned a bit rainy and coolish and were not going so I can get
dirty and put stuff in. I am planning on using milk crates with I have a
bunch of - to help shade the babies- If I need to add plastic covers- don't
know exactly how to attach them(?) but they seem perfect for a ltlle lathe
houses-Any ideas on that? I saved plastic soda and juice bottles and cut the
bottoms off to make little mini greenhouses for my flowers- maybe these will
come in handy. Next year I will get an earlier start on things. Growing
almost everything from plants- very few seeds.Also- HOW do I keep the darned
cats out of my lovely soil?I have bough a can of boundary spray for now-and
do have some of that green plastic fencing or chicken wire- but when things
start growing It is hard to take it off.Ideas? Someone said put aluminum
foil around the plants that they hate that.I have visions of cat poop in
there poisoning us all.I love my cats but the idea of having made $50 litter
boxes is upsetting!LOL> Does anyone one know if the green summer scalloped
squashes grows on a bush or a vine? And what it is called? Thanks ahead of
time-Teri
