No such thing... I know of many who put their compost directly INTO their
garden, or rotate their compost piles around their beds, because the
richest soil you will have will be directly under your compost pile!  So,
no worries on that account...    And trellises should go on the North end,
unless you are trying to use them to shade your garden!  (Here in N.
Michigan, if we put trellises on the south end of the garden, we could grow
cool weather crops all summer long!)  

But, those seeds and seedlings aren't going to grow without a garden, so,
in the words of Miss Frizzle (Magic School Bus) "Take chances, get messy!"
Go put something in those beds you've built, and see what happens!  There
are no guarantees with any type of gardening...  HAVE FUN!!
