How NOT to build a trellis

Hi everyone. I was looking around trying to figure out what I could make my trellis with since my old wooden ones had pretty much bit the dust and there sat a bunch of PVC pipe left over from a  project. Well with a few new couplings and some plumbers tape it looked pretty good. Got the string strung and even braced it on the sides with another couple of pieces of pipe . Then the wind started to blow and I thought the whole bed was gonna take off and fly away.Just too flimsy. However flimsly my wood trellis was- it was much better than this -this is just too wobbly. - it is 1 1/1 inch- maybe  just too high. don't know. The string looks really good this year too you know- darn it? I heard people on this very forum warn about this being too flimsy-but did I listen? NOOOOOO!- maybe a thicker pipe would be ok- but I think you need weigh plumbing pipe or just go get some decent wood. Oh well- only lost a few hours and learned a lot. My Neighbors got a kick out of this boo boo- the old timers in my mobile home park are always hanging over the fence waiting to see what I am going to next - things that THEYnever did when they gardened,"YOU CAIN"T GROW IN BOXES LIKE THAT-YOU GOTTA HAVE ROWS.YOU CAIN'T GROW MELONS  OR CUKES UP A ROPE LIKE THAT , YOU GOTS TO GROW EM ON HILLS, HOW COME YOU AINT ROTOTOLLIN? YOU GOTS TO ROTOTIL",  then when something grows-"HEY CAN WE HAVE SOME OF THEM TOMATERS?" Today as the trellis was swinging about madly (it WAS windy) and I was desperately trying to unhook it ALL BY MYSELF-without smacking myself silly- they were guffawing and snorting(the women do this too!) and  I heard someone suggest that it might make a great frame for a very large kite. Smart alecs.I wonder if any of them have any plumbing pipe....Teri.
