Teri- There you go. Just one word of plumber advice; use ABS plumbing pipe instead of pvc. The abs pipe os black and much stronger in the same size. Sorry I do not know whether the price is better or not.

I figured it out! I have some really flimsy pipe that is only 1 inch in
diameter. Am going to use it to make a quilters frame or pontail holders for
a giant or something! It is really flexible.Went to the lumber yard with a
piece of it and compared it to a piece of  the1 1/2 inch stiff stuff  you
all were speaking of and the difference was remarkable- so back to" Don't do
what I did".  However- as many have attested- PVC-the right kind and size is
a PERFECTLY good  material for trellisesDidn't buy any yet- just found out
that Neighborhood Cleanup is happening around the corner next week and so
hoping for some plumbing or electrical piping Always lots there. Am tapped
out finanacially until the end of this month for extras. Thanks for all the
info guys._Teri
