I've done them both ways, I don't think there is a noticeable difference.

I was wondering if anyone had experimented with the position of their
vertical supports.
I am setting up a 1 x 12 section just for vertical growing but I wasn't sure
if my supports should be located directly over the center of the block or
more towards the back. I was thinking more towards the back to make it
easier on me and I figure that the plants won't care as soon as I start
training them.
Any views on this?
