I don't know if this is possible everywhere, but here in Oregon you can
get the tree trimming co. for the electric company to drop off truck
loads of material. Around here they are not in the phone book, and the
electric co. won't give out their number but if you stop when you see
them working and ask the guys what the office # is they will give it to
you. Then you call and tell them that you would like to be a drop off
point. You can specify how many truck loads you want or if you want all
they can give you. Then when they are in your area they will empty a
truck load a truck load of chipped tree trimmings. Again around here,
these are unsprayed, mixed species trimmings and it's free. Then if you
get manure you have lots of wonderful compost. A truck load is a lot so
some of my neighbors and I trade off being a delivery point and share
it.
