once a week sqfting suggestions?

Hi All,

We do our sqfting in a community plot which we are only able to get to once
a week at most. Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping up a garden
under these circumstances? We've had some trouble with transplant
casualties so far this spring, although some of them are hanging in there.
I'm using shade cages now because the wall-o-waters seemed to be
concentrating the sun, or at least not sheilding them much, and they were
burning. The shade cage transplants are doing somewhat better, but not
great as yet. The water is on a timer and goes once a day. We don't have
any control over it, except to hand water while we're there once a week.
And then there's the bindweed trying it's best to take over the whole place
again, ugggg. Last year it finally won in late July or so. Any ideas
would be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
