I'd like to try it this year, but I have what is probably a silly question. You only put the seed potatoes in the bottom of the cage/barrel? I understand that you keep filling the cage/barrel with dirt as the potato plants grow up. Will potatoes grow along the plant stems or what? In other words, will you have a cage/barrel full of potatoes or just at the bottom? I've heard that the cage method works *very* well because you can bend the wires and harvest potatoes without having to dig everything up.
