Green Day All!
I planted several seeds of different tomato varieties about 6 weeks ago.
They've been under gro lights in an area kept at about 65-70 degs - about 10
hours of light per day. First time I've tried to start my own tomato
seedlings. I was extremely pleased with the germination rate (about 98%)
and have watched those little plants just grow and grow.
Unfortunately, several plants have grown kinda leggy (is that damping off?).
The leaves and stems look very healthy, although they are drooping over. I
know, I know (too late) I should have kept the gro lights about two inches
from the seedlings.
Here is my question: is it possible to transplant these otherwise healthy
looking seedlings into a deeper container to save them? I was thinking if I
bury them to about 1/2 inch from the first set of leaves that those long
stems may somehow root. Am I very off base here? Would I be wasting my
time by attempting such a thing? I probably won't be able to set out
tomatoes for another 3 weeks or so.
Thanks for any opinions!
